Kazi Nazrul Islam the National Poet of Bnagladesh

KAZI NAZRUL ISLAM

Introduction:  Kazi Nazrul Islam is the National Poet of Bangladesh. He is also called the rebel poet for his uncompromising attitude towards the British occupying force and the untamed exuberance of his soul.

Birth and Early Life: Kazi Nazrul Islam was born on 24 May, 1899 A.D. in a poor but respectable Kazi family of Churulia under the Bardhwan district. His father’s name was faker Ahmed and mother’s mane was Jabeda Khatun. He lost his father at a tender age. He was admitted to school but could not proceed with his studies due to his untamed nature. He left school. At that time, he gave lessons in local Maktab and worked as a Muazzin. At a point, he left his village and worded as a baker by in a bakery at Asansol. Even that time he wrote poetry. There a kind-hearted police officer came to know him personally receptive mind. The police officer got him admitted into high school where he passed the secondary examination. He joined a theatre party and worked as an actor.

Last Years and Death:  In his last years of life, he got paralyzed. He died on 29th  August, 1976.

Professional and Literary Career: during the First World War, he joined the Bengali Regiment and fought in the war. When the returned from the war he devoted himself to writing. He wrote thousands of poems and songs. He also wrote some novels, short stories, dramas, and essays. ‘Agni Bina’, ‘Bisher Banshi’, ‘Bhangar Gan’ ‘Juga Bani’, and ‘Samyabadi’ are some of his remarkable literary works. He inspired the nation with his fiery writings.


Conclusion: Kazi Nazrul Islam is one of the most remarkable writers of Bengali literature. His writings are a great source of inspiration and joy to us.
